What does God do when we believe what He has said and stand on it by faith?
When we believe what God has said and stand on it by faith, God does the same for us: He declares us righteous and declares us justified from all things. The contrast is that Christendom largely insists on doing something rather than resting on what God has said, but God's response to faith is justification.
Les teaches that this is exactly where believers stand: when they believe what God has said and actually stand on it by faith, God does the same for them. He declares them righteous; He declares them justified from all things. Les contrasts this with the vast majority of Christendom, which feels it must do something and cannot simply rest on what God has said—human nature says, "I've got to do this, or I've got to do that." He illustrates the point with a Colorado fishing trip where they were skunked, then met a pastor from the Denver area who appreciated his down-to-earth teaching. The pastor told of a lady who had been baptized and joined three churches of his denomination, and had been in two other organizations previously, yet when asked if she had ever believed the gospel or had a salvation experience, she did not know what he was talking about. None of those places had ever asked her. The unit uses this to show the difference between resting on God's Word by faith and trusting in religious activity.
