What does it mean that we are under grace and not under the law?

By the work of the cross, believers are now under grace rather than under the law. Through Christ’s body they have become dead to the law so they can be married to another—the One raised from the dead—and are spiritually unioned with Christ like a husband and wife.

Les explains that by the work of the cross believers are now under grace and not under the law. Because they are become dead to the law by the body of Christ, they can be married to another—Him who is raised from the dead. The concept is that as soon as a person becomes a child of God, he or she is literally unioned with Christ, just like a husband and wife in the marriage relationship. This is all through Paul’s writings, and Ephesians 5 likens the marriage relationship to our spiritual relationship with Christ. The husband is head of the wife, and Christ is head of the Church. For Christ to become head of believers as members of the Body, He had to die and suffer for them; the resurrection overcame that death. Likewise, a husband should be ready to die for his wife if necessary.

Romans 7:4

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
