Did Christ die only for believers, or for everyone?
Christ died for everyone, not only for believers. His work of propitiation at the cross included the shed blood and intercession, and Scripture says it was for the sins of the whole world. However, not everyone will be saved, because not everyone will appropriate that provision, though the potential is there.
Les explains that every aspect of the tabernacle—the gold, silver, stones, and all its composition—pictured the work of salvation Christ accomplished at the cross, which he calls propitiation. That work included His work as high priest, the shed blood of the sacrifice, and His interceding in the Holy of Holies. Les says this propitiation is not for our sins only, but God has done it for the sins of the whole world. He notes that someone promoted the idea that Christ only died for the believer, but he cannot go along with that because his Bible says Christ died for everyone. Yet not everyone will be saved because not everyone will appropriate it; the potential is there.
