Who did Christ die for, everyone or only believers?

Scripture teaches that Christ tasted death for every man and died for all, meaning the whole human race. He did not die only for the small percentage who become believers, but for every man, woman, and child born into Adam's family.

Les explains that although some verses speak of God's foreknowledge and choosing believers in Christ before creation, other verses clearly state "whosoever will may come" and that Christ tasted death for every man. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5 that if He died for all, then all were dead. The "all" includes the whole human race—not just the percentage who become believers. Christ died for every man, woman, and child born into Adam's family. These two facets—God's choice and universal provision—cannot be reconciled by human reasoning, because it is beyond us.
