Did Christ die for everyone or only for believers?

Scripture teaches that Christ tasted death for every man, not just believers. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5 that He died for all—the whole human race, every man, woman, and child born into Adam’s family. Yet Scripture also speaks of being chosen before the world’s foundation, and these two doctrines cannot be fully reconciled by human understanding.

Les teaches that Christ tasted death for every man, and Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5 that if He died for all, then we're all dead. The 'all' includes the whole human race—every man, woman, and child ever born into the family of Adam—not just the small percentage who become believers. Yet Les also points to the opposite verses: God in His foreknowledge chose believers in Christ before anything was created, and no one can come to God unless He calls them. Les admits these two facets or doctrines cannot be reconciled because it is beyond us.
