Who did Christ die for — only believers or the whole human race?

Scripture teaches that Christ died for the whole human race, not only for believers. He tasted death for every man, and Paul says if He died for all, then all were dead. His death extends to every man, woman, and child born into the family of Adam.

Les explains that alongside verses about being chosen before the foundation of the world and being unable to come to God unless He calls, there are also verses like “whosoever will may come” and “Christ tasted death for every man.” Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5 that if He died for all, then we’re all dead. Les asks who that includes and answers: the whole human race. He did not die just for the small percentage who become believers, but for every man, woman, and child born into the family of Adam. Les acknowledges these two facets cannot be reconciled because they are beyond us.
