Until when does our responsibility to the Lord last?

Our responsibility to the Lord lasts until He comes. Until then, we are responsible only to the Lord. When He comes, He will bring to light hidden things, make manifest the counsels of hearts, and every man will have praise of God.

Les teaches that we are responsible only to the Lord, and until He comes, this is where our responsibility lies. He explains that the final impact of our lives will not be known until the Lord, the righteous judge, reveals it at the last time. Every person we have touched will carry on in some way, and we do not know what they will accomplish. He illustrates with his own experience: people instrumental in his early Christian experience are long gone, yet what they did still carries on. The same is true for the lost; as they make an impact from their lostness, they reap rewards of people following in their footsteps. The apostle shows we are responsible only to the Lord until He comes. Then Scripture says, 'until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts, then shall every man have praise of God.'
