How long will the Lord's table continue?

The Lord's table will continue until the Lord returns; it will not stop before then. Whenever believers partake, they show the Lord's death until He comes. Its purpose is to remind oneself that Christ died, His blood was shed, and He arose, making it a solemn occasion.

Les teaches that the Lord's table will not stop until the Lord returns. Paul says, "Whenever you do this, you show the Lord's death until He come." The only purpose of the Lord's Supper is to remind yourself, not the person next to you or across the church, that Christ died, His blood was shed, and He arose from the dead. It is to be a solemn experience. The Corinthians abused this picture by indulgence with food and too much wine, so Paul told them to do their eating and drinking at home, but when they come to the Lord's house for the Lord's Supper, it is a solemn occasion. Paul also describes the required attitude: whoever eats and drinks unworthily is guilty of the body and blood of the Lord, so a man must examine himself. Les explains that you do not examine or judge the next person or the person across the church; you look at your own heart and attitude and ask, "Am I right with the Lord?"

1 Corinthians 11:26

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
