What is the time span of the day of the Lord?

The day of the Lord spans from the beginning of the tribulation all the way through until we enter eternity. It encompasses the tribulation period and continues into the eternal state, as Scripture describes the heavens passing away and the elements melting with fervent heat.

Les explains that the day of the Lord is not a single 24-hour period but a broad span of time. It starts with the beginning of the tribulation and continues all the way through until we go into eternity. He connects this to II Peter 3, where the heavens pass away with a great noise, the elements melt with fervent heat, and the earth and its works are burned up. This leads to the day of God, when the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved. Les also shares an illustration from a scientific journal article by a famous physicist who concluded that everything came from an original source of light, suggesting the universe will be melted down and brought back to the God who created it.
