Why are believers supposed to work for reward?
Believers work for reward because salvation is already received by grace through faith plus nothing, not by works. After entering that salvation experience, God expects them to labor to enhance His work and Kingdom and to bring honor and glory to His Name.
Les teaches that most of Christendom wrongly thinks works help attain salvation, but salvation is all of grace by faith plus nothing. Once a person has entered that glorious salvation experience, God expects believers to work for reward. The purpose is to enhance His work, enhance the Kingdom, and bring honor and glory to His Name. Les explains that Paul uses the Olympic race analogy in 1 Corinthians 9:24: runners run, but one receives the prize. As believers labor in this building process, they are to run that they may obtain reward—not salvation, which they have already attained by faith.
