Why should believers work for rewards instead of trying to earn salvation?
Believers should labor, work, and serve for reward because salvation cannot be earned, but rewards are biblical and based on their Christian walk and faithfulness. Those rewards come to fruition in the Kingdom economy, where they will rule and reign with Christ, and their level of responsibility will reflect their faithfulness.
Les teaches that rewards are biblical and that believers will definitely receive reward based on their Christian walk in this life on earth. Those rewards primarily come to fruition in the Kingdom economy—when the Kingdom comes on the earth, becomes viable and active, with Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords. He will rule primarily the nation of Israel, which will be the greatest nation going into the Kingdom, and also be the worldwide ruler. Believers will rule and reign with Him, and their level of responsibility then will be based on their faithfulness here. Therefore, Les says it behooves believers to labor, work, and serve for reward, not for salvation, because salvation cannot be earned anyway. He also notes most people would rather be active than sitting on the sideline, and he directs the studio to begin in Romans chapter 8, dropping down to verse 14.
