When does a master builder come into a building project?
A master builder comes into a building project right from the beginning, when plans are first laid. He is not someone who arrives when the building is half built to finish it. He stakes out where it will be built and lays the foundation, involved from day one, as Paul did for the church.
Les explains that when you build a home or building and need a contractor, the major contractor comes into the scene when you first begin to lay plans to build. That contractor comes right into the picture with you. He is the one who goes out and stakes where it is going to be built, and he lays the foundation. Right from the beginning, he is involved. That is the role of a master builder. He is not someone who comes on the scene when the building is half built, just to finish it up. He is going to be there from day one. Paul claims to be that master builder, speaking of the church, the body of Christ. He says he laid the foundation, meaning he was there from day one overseeing this building. We are working together in this building, which is the body of Christ, and every man must take heed how he builds thereon, following in Paul's footsteps.
According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
