What is God's role toward believers in the finished work of the cross?

In the finished work of the cross, God is the believer’s partner and overseer. He is over everything they say, think, and do. Believers are His workmanship, His husbandry, and His building, owned by the redemption price of His shed blood.

Les explains that Paul writes to the Corinthians so they not become discouraged. Though they are carnal and still babes in Christ, they are laboring with the Eternal Sovereign God. A believer does not have to be a great spiritual giant for God to use him; God wants to use every last one, whether weak, a babe, a little carnal, or further up the ladder. Paul says, “We are laborers together”; “You are God’s husbandry”; “You are God’s building.” The possessive term is with God, the owner of everything, and He owns us by the redemption price of His shed blood. It is the preaching of the cross that gets people into this position, and nothing else. So as believers in the finished work of the cross, God is our partner, our overseer, the One over everything we say, think, and do; we are His workmanship, His husbandry, and God’s building.
