Les Feldick Bible Study

What position can God give believers because of the work of the cross?

By virtue of the work of the cross, God can place believers as full, completely tutored sons of God, able to come right in alongside Him. Having received the Spirit of Adoption, their position is exalted in the heavenlies, where they are already joint heirs with Christ.

Les teaches that because of the work of the cross, God can place the believer as a full, completely tutored son of God who can come right in alongside Him. He illustrates this with the Greek or Roman tutor who prepared a child to become an adult son, ready to step in and be co-equal with the Father. That prepared son does not come in like a scared little puppy dog but comes right in to work alongside the Father. Les says this is where we are: by virtue of the work of the cross, God can place us as a full, completely tutored son of God, and we can come right in alongside with Him. That is our position. He then points to Ephesians as a book of position, asking where we are as believers. He says we are in that exalted position. Even though we are here on the earth under the curse, up against the same things as the rest of the world, in faith we can see that we are already in that exalted position in the heavenlies. We are already joint heirs with Christ. Les also connects this to Romans chapter 8, where we have received the Spirit of Adoption, whereby we cry Abba Father, not a spirit of bondage and fear.
