What happens after you share the gospel with someone?

After sharing the gospel, the believer sows the seed. Sometimes just a few words or a small statement can make someone take notice of eternity. God gives the increase; He may later move in and finish the work of salvation, so the sower cannot take credit for the result.

Les explains that whether we plant or water, that is not what counts; it is God who gives the increase. Paul did not even take credit, because he did not save anyone—God did. This is the role of every believer: we sow the seed, sometimes with just a couple or three words or a small statement that makes someone sit up and take notice about eternity. Then something else may happen, the person gets a hunger, and God moves in and finishes that work of salvation. So after sharing the gospel, the result belongs to God.

1 Corinthians 3:8

Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour.
