Who was Aquila and why did he and Priscilla leave Rome for Corinth?

Aquila was a Jew born in Pontus, married to Priscilla, and by trade a tentmaker. He and Priscilla had lately come from Italy to Corinth because of the demand to depart from Rome. Paul found them in Corinth, abode with them, and worked with them at their occupation.

Les teaches that Aquila was a Jew born in Pontus who had lately come from Italy with his wife Priscilla because of the demand to depart from Rome. Paul found them in Corinth. Because Paul was of the same craft, he abode with Priscilla and Aquila and worked, for by their occupation they were tent makers. Paul reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks. Les notes that as Paul, Priscilla, and Aquila spent daily time at their trade, Paul constantly talked about his Gospel, just as believers should talk about the Word rather than weather or politics.

Acts 18:1

Acts 18:2
