Les Feldick Bible Study

Where should believers set their eyes instead of on a man?

Believers should not fix their attention on any individual man, because that causes division and bickering. Instead, they should set their eyes on the Word of God and on the crucified One, the One who died for them and rose from the dead. This keeps unity centered on the crucified One rather than on human leaders.

Les explains that four groups followed Paul, Apollos, Peter, and Jesus Himself, and this wreaked havoc in the church because there was no unity. Their constant bickering centered on an individual man, and many churches today can be caught in that same problem. Therefore, believers should not set their eyes on the man but should set their eyes on the Word of God and on the crucified One, the One who died for them and rose from the dead.
