When God looks at a believer, who does He see?

God sees Christ. Because Christ, who knew no sin, was made sin for the believer, His righteousness is imputed to the believer’s account. Everything Christ was and is has been placed on the believer by faith, so God no longer sees the believer by name or personal identity.

Les explains that God made Christ, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Christ was God and sinless, never committing a single sin, not even in thought. That righteousness has been imputed to the believer’s account. Therefore, when God looks on a believer, He does not see the individual by name; He sees Christ, because everything Christ was and is has been placed on the believer by faith. Les adds that this does not stop there: the believer will get busy, be a testimony, and have concern for lost people, reminding them it is not what they do but faith—believing and appropriating it.
