Why couldn't the Corinthians get anything done?

The Corinthians were hindered by division and lack of unity. Four factions followed Paul, Apollos, Peter, and Jesus Himself, which wreaked havoc in the church. Their constant bickering was centered on individual men rather than on the Word of God and the crucified One, so they could accomplish nothing.

Les explains that the Corinthian church was divided into four groups: those who followed Paul, those who followed Apollos, those who followed Peter, and those who followed Jesus Himself. This division wreaked havoc in the church because there was no unity. They couldn't get anything done because of the constant bickering, and their bickering was all centered on an individual man. Les then applies this to today, asking how many churches are caught up in that same problem. The corrective is not to set your eyes on the man, but to set your eyes on the Word of God and on the crucified One, the One who died for you and rose from the dead.
