Was Paul's gospel a new revelation or was he passing on someone else's material?
Paul certifies that the gospel he preached was not after man. He did not receive it from man, nor was he taught it by man, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. It was not someone else's material passed on; it was a new revelation from the risen, glorified Christ.
Les teaches that Paul's gospel was not a human tradition or someone else's material. In Galatians 1, Paul gives his own account of how these revelations came to him. He guarantees that the gospel he preached is not after man; he was not just falling into someone else's footsteps, taking up their material, and passing it on. Instead, he started with something totally new. Paul says he neither received it of man, neither was he taught it by man, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Les also connects this to the hidden wisdom kept secret, which God ordained before the world, showing it was part of God's predetermined sovereign plan. When Jesus Christ revealed these things to Paul, He was already in glory.
But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
