Where did Paul get his gospel—from man or by revelation from Jesus Christ?
Paul received his gospel not from man but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. He certified that what he preached was not after man, nor received or taught by man. Jesus, already in glory, revealed these hidden wisdoms to him according to God’s predetermined sovereign plan.
Les teaches that Paul gives his own account in Galatians chapter 1. Paul certifies or guarantees the brethren that the gospel he preached is not after man; he is not merely falling into someone else’s footsteps and passing on their material. He neither received it of man nor was taught it by man, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Les points out that Jesus Christ was already in glory when He revealed these things to Paul. This was not God suddenly changing His mind; it was part of the predetermined sovereign plan of the ages. Through this man God would reveal hidden wisdoms that had been kept secret and ordained before the world.
But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
