Where should our faith not stand, and where should it stand?

Our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, nor in those who seem to have answers to the world's problems, science, or religion. It should stand in the power of God, in the Gospel, and in the Word of God. From that foundation, God expands our knowledge and growth.

Les explains that the Apostle came not with enticing words but in the power of the Spirit, and then states that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. He emphasizes this because too much today is built on listening to someone who seemingly has all the answers to the world's problems or to science and religion. Instead, faith is placed in the Gospel and the Word of God; from there God expands knowledge. The Corinthians, saved out of gross immorality, had all the grace they would ever have, but growth still lay ahead; they began as fledglings and would grow under God's grace.

1 Corinthians 2:5
