On what basis could God make the carnal Corinthian believers blameless?
God could make them blameless on the basis of the work of the cross and the shed blood of Christ. Though they were carnal Corinthian believers, if the Lord should suddenly come, as far as God was concerned, they would be blameless on that same basis.
Les explains that the apostle by inspiration tells these carnal Corinthian believers that if the Lord should suddenly come, so far as God was concerned, they would be blameless. The basis is the work of the cross and the shed blood of Christ. Les connects this to Revelation chapter 12, where at the midpoint of the tribulation there will be a great war in heaven, Satan and his angels are defeated and cast out, and verse 10 speaks of salvation, strength, and the kingdom of our God. Satan is the accuser of the brethren, accusing them before God day and night. Les asks what the old devil is doing tonight: accusing every time a believer sins, and the comfort comes back to the same redemptive work.
