Would the Corinthians have stood before God blameless if the Lord had come right after they received Paul's letter?

Yes. Paul writes God would confirm them unto the end, that they might be blameless. Though the Corinthians had failures and weaknesses, if the Lord had come right after they received the letter, they would have stood before God blameless—not by their conduct, but on the basis of grace.

Les explains that the testimony of Christ was confirmed in the Corinthians, so they came behind in no gift, waiting for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. In 1 Corinthians 1:8, Paul says God will confirm them unto the end, that they may be blameless. Les points out that this is mind boggling because these Corinthians had failures and weaknesses. If the Lord had come within a day or two after they received the letter, they would not have stood before God shaking in their boots because of all their failures. Paul says they would stand before Him blameless. They were not blameless in themselves, so the basis is grace.

1 Corinthians 1:8

Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
