What is the church unaware of today according to this teaching?
The church today is spiritually asleep and totally unaware of the events unfolding in the world that are setting the stage for the coming final seven years of human history. Many church people dismiss such talk, being comfortable and not wanting to be awakened, even as Paul calls believers to wake up.
Les explains that Paul, knowing the time, says it is high time to awake out of sleep—spiritual sleep—and that is where the church is tonight. They are sound asleep and totally unaware of all the things taking place in this world that are getting the stage set for the coming of that final seven years of human history. They have no idea. Church people have told him that fellow deacons and elders think he is plumb nuts when he starts talking about how everything is getting ready for the end time. That does not surprise him. They are asleep and do not want to be woke up; they say, "Leave me alone." In Illinois they say, "I'm comfortable, leave me alone." But Paul says, "Hey, wake up." We are in the end time, and if he thought it was 2,000 years ago, it is closer now.
