If I love my neighbor, what do I do when they wrong me?
When wronged by a neighbor, love does not avenge. Scripture says love works no ill to its neighbor, so you cannot do them harm or seek revenge. Instead, as much as lies in you, you let God take care of it, trusting Him to handle the wrong while you walk in love.
Les explains that love works no ill to a neighbor. If you love your neighbor, you cannot do him dirt, even if he does you some. But if love is operating, as much as lieth in us, we will not avenge him; we let God take care of that. Love is the fulfilling of the law. The epitome of love was expressed at the cross, where Christ's love for lost mankind set His eyes as flint to the cross. That same love, imparted to believers, becomes our attitude toward the people around us, and even our enemies. So instead of retaliation, we trust God to handle the wrong.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
