Les Feldick Bible Study

What is the Christian response when someone does you wrong?

The Christian response is not revenge but honesty and fairness. Believers are to provide things honest in the sight of all men, not out to get or take advantage of others, but to be square dealers. However, verse 18 provides a loophole to the idea that Christians must simply let people do whatever they want.

Les explains that Romans 12:17 addresses our attitude toward those around us, not just in the local church but in the community as a whole. The human response when someone does you dirt is to do them dirt in return, but that is not the Christian principle. Instead, we are to provide things honest in the sight of all men. Les illustrates this by saying he would rather charge $5.00 too little than overcharge by $5.00, emphasizing that we should not be out to get or take advantage of others but be square dealers. He also notes that verse 18 is a loophole to the idea that Christians must simply let people do whatever they want.
