What should Christians do under a totalitarian, ungodly government?

Christians should first live peaceably even under a totalitarian, ungodly government, recognizing that governing powers are ordained of God. They may resist only when it goes contrary to Christian experience and Scripture's commands; then they can refuse, saying they cannot do that. Until then, believers are to give themselves.

Les teaches that though God has given individuals and nations free will, after 6,000 years of human history the world is right on schedule. God places civil government in a way we cannot fully comprehend. The quoted verse says whoever resists the power resists the ordinance of God and receives condemnation. So under a completely totalitarian, ungodly government, the believer's first responsibility is to live peaceably. The only right to resist is when that government goes contrary to Christian experience and the commands of Scripture. Then believers may say, “Wait a minute, I can't do that.” Until then, they are to give themselves.
