What should a Christian do when someone misuses them?

A Christian should live peaceably with all men as much as possible, not avenge themselves, and give place to wrath, trusting God to repay. If no other recourse exists, they may exert legal privileges rather than passively allow others to misuse them.

Les explains that Paul, when beaten unlawfully in Philippi, exerted his Roman citizenship and the magistrates were scared. Les says believers should not run to a lawyer at the drop of a hat, but when there is no other way, they do not have to lay down and say, 'Walk on me, I'm a Christian.' Romans 12:18 says, 'If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.' Verse 19 says, 'Avenge not yourselves,' and 'give place to wrath, for it is written, Vengeance is Mine.' Les notes we always want to get even, but Scripture says we don't have to; God will do it for us. He may take longer, but He will square the matter. So if someone has misused you, give Him time.

Romans 12:19

Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Because God is in control, a believer who has been misused should give God time, since He is going to square the matter.
