What did God command Israel to do at the Red Sea?
At the Red Sea, God commanded Israel to stand still and do nothing. They were not to scavenge for driftwood, build a bridge, or find something to float them across. The command was simply to stand still and wait for God to move in and perform deliverance.
Les teaches that God told Israel at the shores of the Red Sea, “stand still, don't do anything, don't try to build a bridge, don't try to find something that will float you across, stand still.” Israel was not to start scavenging the country for driftwood or anything that would float. Les uses this as an illustration of salvation: the unbeliever must come to the same place, recognizing he can do nothing until God moves in and performs the miracle of salvation. In that miraculous work, God creates within us a whole new mind, will, and emotion; the personality has to be totally recreated, and old Adam has to die, with God then giving us that transformed mind.
