What did God tell Israel to do at the Red Sea instead of building bridges or finding a boat?

God told Israel to stand still and wait for the power of God. They were trapped at the Red Sea with the Egyptian army behind them, forbidding mountains to their right, and no possibility of going left. Instead of building bridges or finding a boat or raft, they stood still, and God opened the Red Sea.

Les explains that Israel was locked in at the Red Sea, without strength and not knowing what to do. Instead of hurrying to build bridges or find a boat or raft, God simply said, "Stand still, and wait for the power of God." They did not have to wait long; God opened the Red Sea, and Israel went through on dry ground. Les applies this to salvation: before salvation, we too were without strength, without hope, and helpless, with nothing we could do. Then God opens the way through His grace. In due time Christ died for the ungodly, meaning those without God. The prefix un- means without, so people may be good, the epitome of society, or the best of church members, yet if they have never experienced God's saving grace, they are ungodly because they are without God. God saves the down and outer, the up and outer, and everything in between.
