What did God say about Israel's separation from Egypt?
God declared in Egypt that He would put a division between Israel and the Egyptians, and in Deuteronomy He stated plainly that Israel is a separated people unto Him. Exodus 19 further calls Israel a kingdom of priests, confirming they were set apart.
Les teaches that Israel’s separation was a national phenomenon, not a put-down on the Jewish people. From their time as a nation in Egypt, it was pounded into them that they were a set-apart people and God’s covenant people. God told them in Egypt, “I will put a division between you and the Egyptians,” and in Deuteronomy He says plainly, “You are a separated people unto me.” Exodus 19 adds that Israel would be a kingdom of priests. Les explains this separation carried all the way into Paul’s day, so when Paul began going to the Gentiles, the Jews hated him for it.
