What does it mean that the word is nigh thee in Romans 10?

In Romans 10, the word being nigh thee means the word of faith is near—right in front of us and even in our mouth. It is not the word of law, legalism, or required works, but the message of faith Paul proclaimed.

Les explains that when Romans 10 speaks of the Word being nigh thee, it is right in front of us and even in our mouth. He contrasts this with the word of law, legalism, or any word of what you have to do, do, do. Instead, Paul calls it the word of faith which we preach. Les also notes that to preach means to proclaim something.

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
