What does Romans 10 mean when it says you don't have to ascend or bring Christ up from the deep?

Romans 10 teaches that salvation does not require anyone to ascend to bring Christ down to their level or to bring Him up from the deep. Christ is right in front of every person, accessible at ground level, like the door of the sheepfold, available to whosoever will.

Les explains that this is exactly what Paul is saying in Romans 10. The door to the sheepfold was not up on a sheer cliff, across a raging river, or on the other side of the ocean; it was right in front of them at ground level, where anybody could walk through. In the same way, no one must ascend someplace to bring Christ down to their level where they can approach Him, and no one must bring Him up from the deep. He is right in front of every person. Les relates this to the river of life, where the “Whosoever will” line the shore; when you walk through and look back, it says “Chosen from before the foundation of the world.”

Romans 10:6

But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

Romans 10:7

Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)
