Do we have to go up to heaven or down into the depths to find Christ?
No. To find Christ, one need not ascend to some high mountain or go down into the lowest portions of the earth. He does not have to be brought down or brought up, because He is right in front of us, near through the word of faith that is preached.
Les teaches that we do not have to ascend to some high mountain to find Christ, nor go down into the lowest portions of the earth to find Him. We do not have to bring Him down or bring Him up. Instead, He is right in front of us. Les likes to go back to John's Gospel chapter 10 as an illustration. There Jesus uses Himself as the shepherd of the sheep, and He is also the door to the sheepfold. In John 10:1, Jesus says that anyone who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold but climbs up some other way is a thief and a robber. Les explains that most people just picture someone trying to steal a sheep or lamb, but this is a spiritual thing. It tells us that people who try to gain heaven by a way other than what He has described will be cast out as thieves and robbers. But He that enters in by the door is the shepherd; the porter opens to Him, the sheep hear His voice, He calls His own sheep by name, and He leads them out. Then in verse 6, this parable Jesus spoke unto them.
