Should we expect nothing evil to come out of Israel's Knesset?
No. Israel's Knesset should not be expected to be godly or righteous; it is secular, made up of ordinary humans, and just as much under the control of the god of this world as any other government, including Washington D.C. Although Israel remains God's covenant people, they are presently set aside and spiritually blinded as a nation.
Les teaches that we should not expect the government in Jerusalem to be godly or any more righteous than any other government. They are secular, ordinary human beings doing what they think is right for their circumstances, and they are just as much under the control of the God of this world as Washington D.C. is. People may think that if Israel is what the Bible says, nothing evil should come out of that Knesset, but Les says, "Don't expect that." The exception is that they are still God's covenant people, though right now they have been set aside and are spiritually blinded for the most part as a nation. God is not through with them; He will yet pick up where He left off, and His mercy shall not depart from Him. This final covenant promise is as yet future and not appropriate to put Israel under tonight, but they will one day enjoy it.
