What happened to Israel after the temple was destroyed by Rome?

After Rome's armies under Titus destroyed the temple and killed thousands of Jews, Israel was dispersed into every nation. Later Jews began returning, setting up kibbutzes, and by 1948, after a war with Arabs around them, Israel became a sovereign state again, with Harry Truman first declaring it so.

Les explains that God brought in the Roman army under Titus as discipline. Titus besieged the city; when he gained entrance, great mayhem followed, Roman legions destroyed thousands of Jews, and the temple was taken down rock by rock, stone by stone, as the prophet had written. Israel was then dispersed into every nation on earth. Around the turn of the century, they began coming back, setting up kibbutzes, and little by little the nation of Israel was making its appearance. By 1948, after a little war with the Arabs around them, Harry Truman became the first world leader to declare Israel a sovereign state. Les says the world claims God is through with the Jew, but God promised His mercy would never depart from Israel.
