Who did God call to lead Israel out of Egypt and what was he told to do?
God called Moses to lead Israel out of Egypt. He was told to go to Pharaoh, lead God’s people out of Egypt, bring them to God, and begin the process of preparing this nation for the coming of the Messiah.
Les teaches that about 500 years after Abraham, God called Moses while Israel was down in Egypt and multiplying. God said He would send Moses in to Pharaoh, and Moses would lead God’s people—who came from Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the 12 sons—out of Egypt and bring them to Himself. God would then start working with this little nation and prepare them for the coming of the Messiah, which was the whole purpose of bringing the nation out of Egypt. The context also notes that when Jacob went down into Egypt, God promised to make of Jacob and those 12 sons a nation, and that is where the Jewish nation came from.
