Does God being for us mean nothing bad will ever happen to a Christian?
No. God being for believers does not mean nothing bad will ever happen to them. Bad things can happen to a believer, the world can attack, and Satan can appear as an angel of light to confuse. Yet God remains sovereign, in total control, and His promises stand.
Les teaches that God's promise, “I'm for you,” is sure and should never be forgotten, but it must not be interpreted to mean that nothing bad can happen to a believer. He warns that the things of this world can attack the believer and that Satan can transform himself into an angel of light to confuse the issues. Even so, the believer has promises to rest on: God is still in total control and sovereign. The coming verses address assurance, showing that tribulation cannot separate us from Him.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
