What did the triune God decide in eternity past?
In eternity past, the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—agreed by determinate counsel to create the universe, place planet earth, and put the human race on it. Knowing humanity would fall in Adam, they also predetermined that one person of the triune God would become the Redeemer.
Les explains that way back in eternity past, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit came together and by a determinate agreeing of their three minds decided to create the universe, put in planet earth, and place the human race on it. They knew in foreknowledge that the human race would fall in the man Adam, and in that predeterminate counsel they knew one person of the triune God would have to be a Redeemer. According to that same triune counsel, God put the finger on every one of us and said, “I have a place waiting for you.” Les connects this to the predeterminate counsel of Acts chapter 2 and notes the argument over whether we are elected or chosen by free will, while affirming “whosoever will.”
