Why can't people believe some things written in the Bible?
Some biblical truths are so far beyond human comprehension that they cannot be accepted without settled conviction that the Bible is God's Word. Unbelievers cannot comprehend these things, but believers, taking God at His Word by faith, can understand that the universe was framed by His Word and made out of nothing.
Les explains that some things in Scripture are so far beyond human comprehension that a person cannot believe them unless he is positive this is the Word of God. His faith is not blind; it is documented by the Word. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen, and by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith—simply taking God at His Word—believers can understand that the universe was framed by the Word of God, who spoke it into being. The unbeliever cannot comprehend these things, but the believer can, recognizing that what is seen and tangible was not made out of things that appear; it came out of nothing.
