Does creation itself know it was subjected to the curse and that it will be freed?
Yes. According to Romans 8, all creation is aware that it was subjected to the curse, and it also knows a day is coming when that curse will be lifted. Paul writes that the creature was made subject to vanity not willingly, but by the one who subjected it in hope.
Les explains that when the curse fell, the present ecology was set up so that one species feeds on another—leopards stalking deer, birds robbing nests—and that this is not how God originally created it but is the result of the curse. He then points to Romans 8 and says that, though he cannot explain it, all creation is aware it was subjected to the curse and that the day is coming when the curse will be lifted. Paul writes by inspiration that the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of Him who subjected the same in hope. Les adds that as soon as the curse fell, God came back and said He had a remedy through the Redeemer, the Son, and the seed of the woman.
For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
