To whom has God given the full extent of heaven's love?
God has given the full extent of heaven's love to every human being who has ever lived. He gave it to the whole human race, and the cross demonstrates that He loved us and gave Himself for us. God expects that love to be responded to.
Les explains that God created mankind to have someone He could love and a creature who could respond to that love. That is the whole idea of the marriage relationship. Les notes that Paul says husbands should love their wives, extending that love to the female of the species, because God put within her a responder who will respond to that love. In the big picture, God does this for the whole human race: He extends His love. Les teaches that the whole idea of the cross was that He loved us and gave Himself for us. God then has every right to expect that love to be responded to. When people ask how a God of love and mercy can send people to an eternal hell, Les answers that God has already loved them to the very extent heaven could offer and gave it to every human being who has ever lived. When a human being spurns that love, God in His sovereignty has every right to reject them at the Great White Throne. That is why Les teaches this Book was given to the human race to help people escape the wrath of a righteous God.
