How has God given believers His abundance?
God has given believers His abundance freely, here and now, without requiring them to grovel, climb steps to St. Peter, or cross the ocean. It is abounding and more than they can handle. Believers appropriate it by faith, not by feeling, and the more they believe, the more He blesses, because faith pleases God.
Les explains that if you have wisdom with good common horse sense, you have the abundant life. God has given all this to believers free for nothing. They have not had to grovel in the ground, climb the steps to St. Peter, or go across the ocean; He has given it here and now, and it is abounding—more than we can handle. The way to appropriate it is by faith. Les admits he does not always feel or sense it, but he comes back to the Word and believes it. That is what God is looking for. The more we believe, the more He will bless, because nothing pleases God more than the faith of a human being. Unbelief is what He will hold in the strongest light against mankind. The opposite of unbelief is faith. So believers have appropriated His grace, abounding in wisdom and prudence. Les contrasts this with much of Christendom, which may be saved but lacks that kind of wisdom and flounders in ignorance of the Scriptures.
