Why are believers sealed and why is there no condemnation on them?
Believers are sealed because there is no condemnation on them, and there is no condemnation because they are sealed; it goes both ways. After hearing the Word of Truth, the Gospel of salvation, and believing, they were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, branded with God's mark of ownership.
Les teaches from Ephesians 1:13 that the sequence is: a person hears the Word of Truth, which is the Gospel, the Good News of salvation, then believes. Paul says, “in whom also after that you believed, you were sealed.” Les stresses that this is faith plus nothing; other things people attach to salvation today are not in this passage. He explains the sealing goes both ways: believers are sealed because there is no condemnation on them, and there is no condemnation on them because they are sealed. The sealing is being branded with God's mark of ownership, sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.
