What are the marks of true salvation?

True salvation is marked by a changed lifestyle, changed appetites, and a renewed thought process. The believer walks after the Spirit rather than the flesh, is controlled by the Spirit of God instead of the world, flesh, and devil, and exhibits God-given love that fulfills the law.

Les teaches that one of the first marks of true salvation is a change in lifestyle, a change in appetites, and a change in the whole thought process. The believer no longer walks after the flesh or old Adam but walks after the Spirit, and the Spirit becomes the guideline for living. Whereas they were once under the control of the world, the flesh, and the devil, they are now under the control of the Spirit of God. This salvation is also marked by the love of God operating in the believer through the Holy Spirit. That God-given love works no ill to a neighbor and is the fulfilling of the law. Nothing we can do in ourselves fulfills it, but when the love of God is imparted through the power of the Holy Spirit, the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh.

Romans 8:4

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
