Les Feldick Bible Study

What does a person experience when they receive genuine salvation?

A person who receives genuine salvation experiences the indwelling Holy Spirit, is sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, has that Spirit as the down payment of their inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession—the whole person, body, soul, and spirit—and no longer needs law to tell them what to do.

Les explains that God is not looking for people who merely claim to be Sunday-go-to-meeting Christians; He seeks men and women who have experienced a genuine salvation. That salvation includes the indwelling Holy Spirit. Because of that indwelling Spirit, believers do not need the law to tell them what to do and what not to do. Les further points to Ephesians, where believers are sealed or branded with the Holy Spirit of promise. That indwelling Holy Spirit is the down payment of our inheritance, holding us until the redemption of the purchased possession. The purchased possession is not just the soul but the whole person—body, soul, and spirit.
