What ability does genuine salvation give a believer?

Genuine salvation gives the believer an innate ability to love God in return. When God saves someone and places that person into the body, the genuine salvation produces a real, inward capacity to respond to Him in love. This loving response is part of what salvation accomplishes and is often missed.

Les explains that this truth is illustrated in Ephesians 5, where husbands are told to love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her. He connects that to creation: God created Adam with the ability to love his helpmate, but He also created in Eve an ability to respond. Then he applies it directly to salvation: when God saves us and places us into the body, if our salvation is genuine, we will have an innate ability to love Him in return. Les says that is part of it, and it is what so many people miss.
