What does it mean to be free from the law of sin and death?

Freedom from the law of sin and death means that through the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, God performs an operation in a believer's life, giving a new outlook and hope for eternity. This releases them from being locked into sin and death, where the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

Les explains that Romans 8:2 presents two facts of life. One is that God is able to come in and do an operation in our life that totally gives us a new outlook on life and hope for eternity. It is a whole new ball game compared to being locked in to sin and death. He connects this to Romans 6:23, where the wages of sin is death, showing how sin and death are linked. So being free from the law of sin and death means being released from that lock and receiving new life in Christ.

Romans 8:2

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
