Who does the promise of eternal security and no condemnation actually apply to?

It applies to those who are justified by faith—people who have placed genuine faith in the Gospel and experienced genuine salvation, not merely haphazard church members who walked an aisle, joined a church, or expected an emotional high or prescribed rules.

Les explains that because believers are justified by faith, God can declare there is now no condemnation. He always qualifies the promise of eternal security so it does not apply to any haphazard church member who merely walked an aisle, joined a church, or went through outward motions. Instead, it applies to someone who has had a genuine faith in the Gospel and a genuine salvation experience. Les also stresses that Scripture does not require a great emotional experience, a great white light, a tremendous emotional upheaval, or a prescribed set of rules. He points people to Romans to help them know from Scripture that they are saved and to help those who are seeking.
